We are pleased to announce that Galerie NuEdge has opened its second location, Gallery NuEdge Fine Arts Ltd, at one of the most prestigious developments in Holetown, St. James, Barbados, the Limegrove Lifestyle Center.

Gallery owner and Creative Director, Amel Chamandy, has developed a solid relationship over the past few years with the local and international corporate markets working on project conception, selection of artwork, purchasing and display art and art installations. As well, Galerie NuEdge is able to provide both art selection and design services for residential projects, creating dynamic space specifically catered to each client's need.
"Further Than" a post-modernist classical collection is now on view at Gallery NuEdge Fine Arts Ltd in Barbados featuring international artists, John Bernhard, Laura Santini, Daria Fabbro, Alexander Poll Doval, Charles Richard, Catherine Bury, Alicia Surveyer, Kadir Lopez, Julian Opie and photographer Amel Chamandy.

International artist Amel has been an artist since the age of 15. She studied at Concordia University Studio Art, Art history and photography in the 80's. The artist looks at her subject in a way that transcends color so that she can arrive at its essence and usurp the ordinary for the extraordinary. The subjects are varied and can be found in elements of nature or the man made world that surrounds her. The tones used are to challenge people's predisposition of the subject.

Her most recent emphasis is photography using scale, light and fragmentation to produce her result. Nature has been a focal point of her recent series, and as a way to project the dynamic aspects of shape and form through unconventional spectrum.

Montreal Artist Laura Santini was born in Milano, Italy. She studied sculpture in New York where she graduated with a MA in Studio Art in 1985. Since then, the artist has exhibited her work extensively throughout the United States, Canada, Switzerland and Italy. This includes exhibiting in some of the top art events such as "Basel" Switzerland, and the "Chicago Art Fair" to name of few.

Laura Santini's bronze sculptures are cast at the Guastini Foundry in Italy, located between the cities of Verona and Vicenza. Her works feature fragment, body and shape of varied subjects sometimes arranged in juxtaposition or repeated, reversed and tiered into surrealistic result. Human chains, tunnels that can be crossed or explored, and towers that can be climbed. As with The Diver and Diver and Cardboard Box, the figures are mixed with other everyday objects to represent life entwined with circumstance and those around.

Alexander Poll Doval was born in Havana, Cuba in 1980. A self-taught artist, Alexander began to show his work around Havana in the 1990's including the Gallery Amélia Pélaez, Gallery Mariano Rodriguez, the Feria international del Libro, the exposition Paz y Diversidad as well as 110 Poemas, an exposition with Rick Patrick.

Alicia Surveyer was born in Lachine, Quebec Alicia believes her role as a creative person is a vital one because of an artist's capability to make statements that express ideas to the public. Her work is currently archived in the collection of the Library and Archives of the National Gallery of Canada, and her work is highly collected both locally and internationally.
