Barbados Comes to Limegrove
HOLETOWN, BARBADOS – Limegrove Lifestyle Centre was transformed into a mecca of all things Barbadian when it hosted The Barbados Experience on April 12.
The all-day event, the first of its kind ever hosted at Limegrove, put the spotlight on Barbados culture and traditions in an explosion of colour, indigenous flavours and rhythms.
Attendees at The Barbados Experience enjoyed cooking and mixology demos, a Barbados Museum pop-up exhibit, Mount Gay Rum bars, and a menu of Bajan culinary treats from local vendors. They also had the rare opportunity to watch noted artist Terrence Rupert Piggott as he worked on pieces from his “Barbadiana” series.
In addition, Limegrove was brought to life with the celebrated “Bajan Doo Flicky,” an interactive performance by musicians, dancers, acrobats, actors, and famous Barbadian folk characters.
Throughout the day, the sounds of LIVE steel pan music filled the Centre, as tourists and Barbadians discovered the diversity of the island’s culture.
